Former Presidential candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar
By DAVID IORJA, Abuja-
The Presidency has responded to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s latest allegations, describing them as unfounded and distracting.
According to a statement released by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President (Information and Strategy), Atiku’s claims of being investigated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over unsubstantiated financial dealings involving Lagos State are false and misleading.
The Presidency expressed disappointment that a politician of Atiku’s stature would resort to spreading baseless speculation on social media to remain politically relevant.
Mr. Onanuga said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains focused on addressing critical national challenges and advancing his administration’s agenda for Nigeria’s growth and stability.
Atiku’s allegations were described as infantile and a transparent attempt to deflect attention from his political setbacks.
The Presidency urged Atiku to redirect his energy toward initiatives that foster unity, economic progress, and democratic stability, rather than promoting divisive rhetoric and unfounded accusations.
He emphasized that the EFCC operates independently and without external influence, and any insinuation otherwise is a disservice to the agency’s professionalism and the rule of law.
He said the Presidency remains committed to transparency, accountability, and the pursuit of national development.
