President of Ior Gboko Foundation, Jimmy Ajim bags Doctorate Degree in Singapore

Popular Abuja-based socialite and President of Ior Gboko Foundation, Terhemen Jimmy Ajim, has been awarded a Doctorate Degree (PhD) in Leadership and Management by the London Bridge Business School (LBBS), United Kingdom.

The Doctorate Degree investiture ceremony, held on Friday in Singapore, coincided with the Global Leadership & Management Program, jointly hosted by the LBBS, Leading Edge Business School (LEBS) Nigeria, the Win Institute for Gender Studies (WIGS) and, the African Institute of Public Administration (AIPA) Ghana.

The joint program aims at raising the standard of leadership and Management in Africa through research, training and recognition.

According to the program hosts, Ajim’s nomination for the doctorate award and invitation to the Summit, was in recognition of his “achievements and outstanding performance” in the various leadership and management roles he had functioned in, over the years.

After the summit, Dr. Ajim and the other nominees will be admitted into the global body of Alumni of the African Institute of Public Administration, London Bridge Business School, Win Institute for Gender Studies, Leading Edge Academy and, Leading Edge Business School.

According to his citation during the investiture, Ajim, who was born in Benue State of Nigeria, has spent a total of 31 years in Public Service – 5 of those in the power sector, where he worked briefly with the defunct National Electric Power Authority (NEPA), and the remaining 21 in the petroleum sector, where he distinguished himself as a Protocol and Logistics Officer with the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), now Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited.

Ajim has also worked in the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources as Protocol Officer to the Presidential Adviser on Petroleum & Energy, Late Dr. Rilwanu Likman (1999 – 2001) and as Chief Protocol Officer to three Ministers of Petroleum Resources: Dr. Edmund Daukoru (2002 – 2005), Dr. Emmanuel Kachikwu (2014- 2019) and Chief Timipre Sylva (2019 – 2023).

A member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Nigeria Guild of Orators, Nigeria Institute of Management, Institute of Management consultants (as a Fellow) and, Chatham House London, Jimmy is also an accomplished Public Relations practitioner and a renowned philanthropist, as well as a great Social and Community Development mobilizer.

“A measure of his accomplishment in these areas can easily be seen from the following:

“His exceptional performance of the Protocol and Public Relations duties assigned to him was openly recognized and acknowledged by the team from the College of Petroleum and Energy Studies Oxford, England for the establishment of the College of Petroleum Studies in Kaduna in 1996;

“It is due to his excellent performance that Jimmy has been able to serve several Nigerian Ministers of Petroleum Resources at regular intervals in the past 21 years;

“When he was appointed as the NNPC Liaison Officer to the National Assembly, he successfully facilitated the appearance of the Minister, Group Managing Director (GMD) and other top Management before the Senate and the House of Representatives Committees on Oil and Gas.

“He also travelled extensively with these legislators on oversight assignments to NNPC facilities,” it said.

Prior to the doctorate degree investiture, Ajim held a Master of Art (BA) Management and Post Graduate Diploma Management (PGDM), both from Kingston University London. He earlier graduated with a Higher National Diploma (HND) Business Administration from the famous Yaba College of Technology, Lagos in Nigeria. All these academic achievements came after his elementary education at St. John’s Primary School Gboko and Korinya Secondary School between 1967 and 1978.

In his brief comment after the investiture, Ajim thanked his family, friends, and Ior Gboko Foundation for their support and  prayers.
