Kaduna Citizens Watch for Good Governance has thrown its weight behind ongoing investigations into the immediate past Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, commending the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC), and the Department of State Services (DSS) for what it described as courage and professionalism in handling the matter.
Members of the group on Friday staged a peaceful procession to the Kaduna offices of the anti-graft agencies, chanting solidarity songs and carrying placards with inscriptions such as, “Investigate and prosecute El-Rufai now,” “We won’t be silent until El-Rufai faces the law,” and “We stand with ICPC, EFCC.”
Other placards read, “Investigate without fear or favour,” and “Justice for El-Rufai’s victims.”
Addressing journalists during the protest, the Chairman of the group, Comrade Victor Duniya, urged the agencies to remain steadfast in the investigation of the alleged N432 billion fraud case and other security-related allegations against the former governor

He described the reported detention of El-Rufai by the EFCC on February 16, 2026, and subsequent action by the ICPC on February 18, 2026, as a significant development in the country’s anti-corruption drive.
According to him, the actions demonstrate that no individual, regardless of status, is above the law.
Duniya recalled that on June 5, 2024, the Kaduna State House of Assembly, through an ad hoc committee report, allegedly indicted the former governor over the diversion of N432 billion in public funds and money laundering.
He said the group had earlier submitted a petition to relevant authorities, calling for a thorough investigation and prosecution.
The group also welcomed what it described as renewed efforts to investigate the disappearance of Dadiyata, a vocal critic of the former administration, expressing hope that fresh inquiries would unravel the circumstances surrounding the case.
They further pledged support for security agencies in their efforts to address insecurity and ensure accountability, urging them not to be distracted by what they termed political pressure or attempts to derail the process.
The protesters expressed confidence that the anti-graft agencies would conduct a thorough and evidence-based investigation and ensure that due process is followed.
They maintained that the people of Kaduna State deserve transparency, accountability and justice in the management of public resources.
