
In a significant leadership shake-up within the Nigeria Police Force, the Police Service Commission (PSC) has announced the appointment of Dankwara Mohammed as the new Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG), representing the North East geopolitical zone.
The appointment, revealed in a statement issued on Friday in Abuja by the Head of Press and Public Relations at the PSC, Mr. Ikechukwu Ani, comes following the retirement of DIG Sahabu Yahaya. Mohammed, who previously held the rank of Assistant Inspector-General (AIG), now steps into the top-tier role.
The commission also approved the promotion of Commissioner of Police (CP) Abibo Reuben to the rank of AIG, further reinforcing the senior leadership of the force.
As part of the resolutions from its 2nd Plenary Meeting, chaired by PSC Chairman Mr. Hashimu Argungu, the commission sanctioned a broad wave of promotions.
Eleven Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) have been elevated to the rank of Commissioner of Police.
They include:

Wilson Akpan
Morkwap Dongshal
Abdullateef Yusuf

Ahmed Bello

In addition, 15 Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) were promoted to DCP, among them:

Further promotions include 44 Chief Superintendents of Police (CSPs) to the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), and 412 Superintendents of Police (SPs) to CSP.
Mr. Ani noted that the PSC Chairman extended his congratulations to all newly promoted officers, urging them to recommit themselves to upholding professionalism and service to the nation.
