Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani
Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has said his administration embarked on difficult but necessary reforms to stabilise public finance, strengthen governance, and create a predictable business environment, stressing that the reforms are now yielding tangible results.
The governor stated this at the opening ceremony of the 47th Kaduna International Trade Fair, where he was represented by the Commissioner for Business Innovation and Technology, Mrs. Patience Fakai.
Governor Sani said Kaduna State’s commitment to transparency and accountability has earned it first position on Nigeria’s Subnational Fiscal Transparency Index for two consecutive years.
According to him, the achievement reflects prudent public financial management and openness, which are critical to attracting investment and sustaining economic growth.
He noted that the theme of the trade fair, “ _From Reforms to Results: Economic Transformation through Sustainable Local Content Development,”_ aligns with the policy direction of his administration.
The governor recalled that the Kaduna State Fiscal Responsibility Commission recently organised a capacity-building workshop for public fund managers to promote prudent, transparent, and accountable use of public resources.
He explained that investors are attracted to environments where governance is clear, rules are predictable, and public finance systems are credible.
Uba Sani said evidence shows that subnational governments with higher fiscal transparency attract more private investment, reduce governance risks, and enjoy stronger investor confidence.
He added that Kaduna’s fiscal performance has lowered the cost of doing business, boosted trade, and positioned the state as a reliable destination for both domestic and international investors.
The governor said the Kaduna International Trade Fair provides a platform to convert investor confidence into partnerships, stressing that the state’s focus on local content development is deliberate.
According to him, industrialisation must be anchored on local enterprises, skills, and value chains, noting that Kaduna remains committed to supporting indigenous businesses while remaining open to global capital and expertise.
In a keynote address, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, Nura Abba Rimi, said Nigeria’s Trade Policy has entered the execution stage, adding that success would be measured by increased factories, exports, and benefits to local traders and innovators.
