Former Katsina Governor, Aminu Masari and Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma
All Progressives Congress (APC) has appointed former Katsina State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari, as Chairman of the National Convention Central Coordination Committee, replacing Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, ahead of the party’s March 27 and 28, 2026 National Convention.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Friday via X by the National Secretary of the APC, Surajudeen Basiru. According to the statement, Uzodimma, who was initially announced as chairman of the committee, has now been reassigned to serve as Treasurer.
Basiru explained that the reshuffle followed extensive engagements within the party leadership, noting that the committee was reconstituted to ensure broader inclusion of key stakeholders.
“In further consultation with the leadership and national stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Central Coordination Committee for the 2020 National Convention has been reconstituted,” the statement read.
As part of the adjustments, the ruling party also expanded the membership of the committee from 73 to 90, a move aimed at accommodating more party leaders and interests ahead of the convention.
The APC further announced that additional structures would soon be put in place to drive preparations for the national gathering.
“Sub-committees of the Central Coordination Committee will be constituted and announced in due course.”
Under the new arrangement, former Senate President, Anyim Pius Anyim, was appointed Vice Chairman I, while Kwara State Governor and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, will serve as Vice Chairman II.
Meanwhile, Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, was retained as Secretary of the committee.
The reconstitution comes as the APC intensifies preparations for its national convention, which is expected to shape the party’s leadership structure and political direction ahead of future electoral contests.
