Former Senator Joel Ikenya
Former lawmaker representing Taraba South Senatorial District, Senator Joel Ikenya, has defected from the All Progressive Congress (APC) to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Ikenya, who is also the former Minister of Trade and Industry, said his decision to dump the APC follows due diligence, consultation and careful consideration of the current political situation in Taraba State.
He said: “I want to begin by expressing my deepest gratitude for the love and solidarity you have shown to me since my political journey, which spanned over many years.
“After careful consideration, due diligence, and wide consultations, I am pleased to announce that I have formally defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the interest of my people, Tarabans.
“You are all aware that PDP remains a party that has given me the platform to attain all the positions that I ever got in politics and this is where I believe I am loved.
NATIONAL ACCORD reports that Senator Ikenya’s defection to the PDP coincides with Governor Agbu Kefas’ defection from the PDP to APC, accompanied by the entire state house of assembly and state executive members.
