
Senator Lawal Adamu Usman during a condolence visit to victims of banditry attack
Senator Lawal Adamu Usman, popularly known as Senator LA, has visited the Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital, Kaduna, to sympathise with victims who sustained varying degrees of injuries during the recent abduction of 177 worshippers from churches in Kurmin Wali community, Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The Senator, who represents Kaduna Central Senatorial Zone at the National Assembly, met with the injured victims receiving treatment at the hospital and expressed deep concern over the traumatic incident, describing the attack as condemnable and unacceptable.
Senator LA assured the wounded victims and their families that their abducted loved ones would return safely from captivity, stressing that efforts were already underway to secure the release of all those kidnapped.
He said he was in constant communication with relevant security agencies and stakeholders, noting that he and his colleagues at the Senate would deploy every legitimate means available to ensure the safe and unharmed release of the 177 abducted worshippers.
According to him, the National Assembly remains committed to supporting security agencies through legislation and advocacy aimed at strengthening security operations, particularly in vulnerable communities across Kaduna State.
The Senator condemned the attacks on worship centres, describing them as an assault on humanity and religious freedom, and pledged to work with relevant authorities to prevent a recurrence of such incidents.
After the hospital visit, Senator LA proceeded to Kurmin Wali community, where he met with relatives of the abducted victims and offered words of comfort, assuring them that their loved ones would soon reunite with their families.
He urged the families to remain hopeful and steadfast, while also calling on residents to continue cooperating with security agencies by providing timely and credible information.
The Senator also paid a courtesy visit to the traditional ruler of Agom Kufana Chiefdom Titus Dauda, to commiserate with him and the people of the area over the unfortunate incident.
In his response, the traditional ruler thanked Senator LA for finding time to visit the community, noting that the visit meant a great deal to the people and demonstrated genuine concern for their safety and wellbeing.
The traditional ruler further called on the federal and state governments to intensify security presence in Kajuru and neighbouring communities, stressing that sustained patrols and proactive intelligence gathering were needed to restore confidence among the people.
He assured the Senator of the community’s continued support and cooperation with security agencies, while praying for the safe and speedy return of all those abducted.
