Sokoto district head’s son impregnates 15 years old girl

BY ANKELI EMMANUEL, Sokoto-

A 32 years old son of the District Head of Tureta Local Government Area (name witheld) was accused to have allegedly impregnated a 15 years old and threatened to ostracize her parents from the Asarara village should she reveal his identity.

It was gathered that the said son of the District Head who is also a father of 2 alongside his father in a bit to show their influence further went ahead to file a character defamation case against the poor parents of the 15 years old after the incident became a public discourse.

Speaking exclusively to LEADERSHIP on her plight, the survivor, Rakiya (not real name) said while she was hawking her local millet gruel (Fura Da Nono), the District Head’s son called, cajoled her to enter his room where he had carnal knowledge of her.

“The son of the District Head called me to bring Fura Da No-no. On reaching, he said his wife is not around and that it’s either I bring the Fura inside or he instigate his father to ostracize my poor parents from the community”.

“After hearing that, I was scared and had no option than to allow him have his way by deflowering me”.

“He also said if I refused coming to see him after that time, he will carry out his threat of instigating his father to sack us from the village. Therefore I kept going to see him at his request, until I eventually discovered my body system has changed. That was when people said I was pregnant. I told him and he denied, saying if I ever mention his name, he will asked his father to ostracize my poor parents from Asarara village”.

Efforts to speak with the District Head nor his son proved abortive at the time of filing this report, LEADERSHIP however gathered that they have gone ahead to file a defermation of character charge against the 15 years old girl and her poor parents, even as the girl is currently under the care of NAPTIP in the State.

Confirming the development, The Zonal Commander of NAPTIP in charge of Sokoto/Kebbi and Zamfara States, Mr Micika Mafa Ali, said his men are on top of the situation and would ensure that justice is done.
