Anambra State Governor, Charles Soludo
Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, has downplayed the challenge posed by other candidates in the November 8, 2025, governorship election, claiming they are merely using their campaigns to solicit funds.
Representing the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Soludo made these remarks during a vibrant endorsement rally held by party supporters from the Anambra Central Senatorial District at Ekwueme Square in Awka.
The rally was organized to rally support for Soludo’s re-election bid.
He emphasized the state’s zoning arrangement, which he said ensures fairness and equity across Anambra’s three senatorial zones.
“The rotation began with Anambra Central under Peter Obi, followed by Anambra North with Willie Obiano. Now, it’s Anambra South’s turn for eight years, and after my tenure, power will return to Anambra Central,” Soludo explained.
“There’s no real contest for the Government House. Other candidates are just fundraising, meeting governors, and seeking endorsements.”
Expressing appreciation for the overwhelming support, Soludo vowed to advance his administration’s transformative agenda.
“This is just the start. We’re laying the groundwork for a rail network in Anambra, with plans to be revealed soon,” he announced.
“We’re committed to this job and will keep working to enhance the lives of our people. With your support, a new Anambra is emerging.”
Soludo called on APGA members to mobilize voters at the grassroots level to secure a resounding victory on election day.
Earlier, Deputy Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Chukwuma Okoye, delivered a communiqué on behalf of Anambra Central, endorsing Soludo’s candidacy and reaffirming commitment to the zoning formula for peace and progress.
The event also saw traditional rulers from the Anambra Central Senatorial District confer the chieftaincy title “ _Olu Atu Egwu”_ on Soludo, symbolizing their support.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has set November 8, 2025, as the date for the governorship election, with 16 candidates vying for the position.
