In a series of intelligence-led operations across Nigeria, the Nigerian Army has dealt a significant blow to terrorist networks, eliminating numerous insurgents and apprehending multiple suspects.
This is contained in a statement released on Saturday by the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Lt.-Col. Appolonia Anele.
Lt. Col. Anele said these operations, conducted between July 22 and 24, also led to the recovery of weapons, logistics, and livestock.
She said in Borno State, troops from the 151 Task Force Battalion ambushed and killed two ISWAP/JAS terrorists in Bula Daburu Village, seizing eight bicycles, food supplies, and other items.
Meanwhile, the 222 Battalion eliminated one terrorist near Alau Dam in Konduga. Additionally, 19 terrorist family members—seven women and 12 children—surrendered to the 202 Battalion in Bama, citing harsh conditions in terrorist hideouts.
According to her, in Niger State, coordinated efforts by Operation FANSAN YAMMA’s Sector 1 and 2, supported by air forces, neutralized several terrorists in Mahula Village, recovering two AK-47 rifles, 18 motorcycles, and ammunition.
In Zamfara, 1 Brigade troops killed three terrorists in Maradun, confiscating rifles, motorcycles, and communication devices. They also destroyed eight motorcycles in Anka and recovered 78 stolen livestock, which were returned to authorities.
In Plateau State, Operation SAFE HAVEN troops arrested key suspects, including Dayabu Idris and Ardo Forof Ardo Habibu Mohammed, linked to killings, kidnappings, and attacks on security personnel.
An AK-47 rifle, ammunition, and three additional suspects tied to a cattle herder’s murder in Jos East were also apprehended.
In Benue, Operation WHIRL STROKE neutralized one kidnapper and rescued three victims in Gbise Town. In Enugu, troops arrested two kidnap suspects in Akwuke Forest, neutralized another in a follow-up operation, and dismantled their hideout. Additionally, two suspected ISWAP logistics suppliers were arrested in Borno’s Ngala and Chibok areas, with authorities recovering communication devices, food items, and over ₦140,000 in cash, disrupting terrorist supply chains.
