Enugu Billionaire ritualist and kidnapper
In a chilling case in Enugu, 40-year-old suspected ritualist Obi-Levi Obieze, known locally as “E dey play, E dey Show,” was arraigned on Wednesday at the Enugu North Magistrates’ Court alongside Sebastine Offor, 64, and Ejike Odinwamkpa, 38.
The trio faced a three-count charge of conspiracy, kidnapping, and murder.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the defendants pleaded not guilty to all charges. Chief Magistrate O.S. Chukwuani ordered their remand at the Enugu Correctional Centre pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecution at the Enugu State Ministry of Justice.
“The defendants have the right to apply for bail at the State High Court,” Chukwuani noted.
Prosecuting Counsel SP Justice Attah informed the court that in April 2025, Obieze, Offor, Odinwamkpa, and others still at large allegedly conspired to kidnap 13-year-old Ukamaka Okoye, 15-year-old Chimaobi Ezi, and 31-year-old Joy Udokamma in the Umuojo Isiagu, Umumba community of Ezeagu Local Government Area. Attah revealed that Ezi and Udokamma were allegedly killed by the defendants.
“These offences violate section 495(a) of the Criminal Code Cap 30, Vol II, Revised Laws of Enugu State, 2004, and section 315(2) of the Criminal Code (Amendment) Law of Enugu State, No. 14, 2010,” he stated.
The case has been adjourned to August 20 for further hearing.
NAN reports that Obieze, a native doctor from Umuojo village, allegedly orchestrated the kidnapping of Ukamaka Okoye on May 29 through three accomplices while she was walking with her father to their farm. Vigilantes, alongside Nigerian Police operatives, rescued Okoye from a dungeon linked to Obieze, where the remains of Udokamma and Ezi were discovered.
Obieze was later arrested by Customs Officers along the Badagry-Seme expressway while attempting to flee the country and was brought back to Enugu to face justice.
