The Provost of College of Nursing and Midwifery in Jalingo, Taraba State, Mrs. Esther Gana, has denied allegations that she refused to hand over office after her four-year tenure expired.
Mrs. Gana , who spoke to NATIONAL ACCORD on Friday, clarified that her tenure ended on October 27, 2024, but she had to attend an emergency international conference in the United States.
She emphasized that those spreading misinformation on social media are causing unnecessary crisis and damaging the institution’s reputation. She described them as mischievous elements working against the college’s interests.
The provost disclosed that the governor of Taraba State Dr. Agbu Kefas is not only aware of her trip to United States alone but also approved and sponsored her trip abroad.
She also debunked allegations of not adhering to the government policy of free education and reduction of school fees by 50 percent, and also maintaining an individual bank account for the payment of school fees.
According to her, the college has no access to any direct contact with finances instead the financial system is managed by an “eye focus consultant” who controls the affairs of finance in the college.
Mrs. Esther reiterated that her stewardship had recorded a tremendous achievements within her leadership period, as she is able to provides steady electricity and water in the college, purchase a brand new transformer, official vehicle, ensure all the courses offered are being accredited, renovation of college hostel, provides an opportunity for staff training both academic and non academic within and outside the state to ensure effective service delivery, among others.
