Tinubu laying solid foundation to address Nigeria’s problems – NSA

The National Security Adviser (NSA), Malam Nuhu Ribadu has assured that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is laying solid foundation to address the problems of the nation.

Ribadu, who spoke at the joint convocation lecture of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto on Thursday, stressed that northern Nigeria is faced with daunting arrays of insecurity issues that is deeply rooted in socio-economic, political, ethic and religious tensions.

The NSA, who spoke on the topic, “Navigating the Maze: Addressing Multi-Dimensional Insecurity Challenges in Northern Nigeria”, decried that the proliferation of small and light arms as well as modern weaponry in the hands of non state actors coupled with the crumbling of traditional social structures have greatly aided insecurity in northern Nigeria.

Ribadu added that, each of the six geo-political zones of the country is faced with one form of challenges of the other.

Making reference to the challenges in the north, the NSA said, “”Beyond banditry the rise and spread of Islamist insurgencies, notably Boko Haram and it’s offshoots like Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP) have also contributed to an insecure environment”.

The National Security Adviser further noted that the conflict in northern Nigeria remains dynamic and mobile confirmed that bandits have now extended to kidnapping for ransom to finance their evil acts.

Continuing, the NSA assured that Bola Ahmed Tinubu has developed a comprehensive strategy to make Nigeria safe even before the President, added that, he operates a listening leadership that is sensitive and acting to provide quality services to all.

He further thanked the President for giving northerners very vital appointments in his leadership, adding, that all should now prioritizing early warning and early response initiative to proactively curb the menace of insecurity in the region and Nigeria at large.

On his part, the Vice Chancellor of UDUS, Prof Lawal Bilbis noted that institution has been contributing its quota to peace and stability of Nigeria and northern Nigeria.

Prof Bilbis also appreciated the Nigerian security agencies for all they have been doing for the country.

In a vote of thanks, Prof Mohammed Maishanu, the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Admin said the theme of the convocation was very apt, adding the guess lecturer has made justice to the topic.
