President Bola Tinubu on Friday hosted the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The Sultan, who also serves as the President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), held a private meeting with the President behind closed doors.
This visit came just days after President Tinubu received the Archbishop of Abuja Catholic Diocese, Most Rev. Ignatius Kaigama, in a similar engagement focused on strengthening interfaith harmony across the nation.

Although the details of their discussions were not made public, it is believed that the talks centered on promoting mutual understanding among Nigeria’s diverse religious communities, as well as reinforcing national peace and development.
The meeting also followed recent comments reportedly made by former U.S. President Donald Trump, who had threatened to take action against Nigeria over alleged attacks on Christians.
After the meeting, the Sultan joined President Tinubu for the Juma’at prayer at the State House Mosque. During the service, the Imam, Alhaji Abdulwaheed Abubakar, called on Nigerians to rally behind the government’s efforts to enhance peace and security across the country.
He emphasized that “peace remains the foundation for both personal progress and the collective advancement of the nation.”
