Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, and his running mate, Kashim Shettima will on Tuesday visit Cross River State for a town hall meeting with the party’s stakeholders.
The APC Deputy Director Presidential Campaign Council South South and Chairman of Media and Publicity Local Organizing Committee, Dr Julius Okputu, disclosed this to newsmen in Calabar on Monday.
Dr. Okputu, who noted that Tinubu has set a standard for good governance when he was the governor of Lagos State, noted that Cross River has put in place an agenda for the development of the state when he becomes president.
“The history of this country is replete with evidence of exemplary governance and Lagos State, is often described as a centre of excellence and mini Nigeria and is a representative sample of an oasis, a cynosure of a working template in our democracy. His Excellency, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, is the progenitor of that exemplary legacy”
.Okputu said Tinubu is s fisher of men who gave those under him when he was governor of Lagos State enough amplitude and leverage to operate freely and demonstrate their capacity in governance which led to excellence in Lagos during his tenure and is ready to replicate that in Nigeria.
“His Cabinet in 1999 had a pan Nigeria outlook, with which he executed policies and initiatives that branded and separated Lagos state from the ordinary Nigerian box. He believes in the inherent capacity of every child, man and woman to advance public interest productively. His determination to continue to forge common fronts in fostering our oneness has kept us together; the sacrifice to secure our fundamental rights to vote and be voted for within an unfettered democratic space makes the essential of Asiwaju Presidency in 2023 a necessity.
He said against the background of the infrastructural and institutional foundation of a new Nigeria laid by President Muhammadu Buhari led administration moving Nigeria forward, with Hope Renewed, which is the Bola Tinubu slogan, Nigeria shall consolidate the gains and strengths of these legacies while advancing new development frontiers.
Dr Okputu listed Industrialization, job creation and opportunities for all strata in the country, robust manufacturing and sustained innovation, towards a healthy balance of trade where exports outweigh imports as the cardinal focus of the Bola Tinubu presidency in 2023 which should be supported
He said: “He will modernise the agricultural sector to achieve food sufficiency expand public infrastructure to catalyse economic growth and development and continue to grow the digital economy to optimal limits sustain economic growth to tackle poverty and unemployment
“It is with honour and great pleasure that we welcome the essential Asiwaju to Cross River State, from that burgeoning and pulsating past to a renewed future anchored on the collective aspirations of Nigerians.
He said the town hall engagement is geared towards interacting with people down the ladder to highlight the issues that would form the critical focus for the development of the state in 2023 moving forward.
