Treat corps members as your children – NYSC charges staff

Newly employed NYSC staff deployed to Kebbi State in a group photograph with the corps principal officers at the state Secretariat, Dakingari.

Mrs Okolo Agatha-Banki, Coordinator, National Youths Service Corps (NYSC), Kebbi State, has charged the newly-employed staff, deployed to the state, to be good public servants and treat corps members as their children.

Hajiya Hadiza Idris, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Corps, made this know in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Birnin Kebbi on Saturday.

The PRO said Agatha-Banki stated this at a one-day, in-house induction course organised by Kebbi State Secretariat, at Dakingari, Suru Local Government Area.

The State Coordinator said the induction course was online with the directive by the Acting Director-General, NYSC, Mrs Christy Uba, that it is necessary to acquaint and familiarise the new staff with the operations of the scheme.

While congratulating the new staff on their appointments, Agatha-Banki said the scheme is more of humanitarian services, not a money-making organisation.

She enjoined the new staff to carry out their duties within the ambit of work ethics and the Public Service Rules (PSR).

The Coordinator equally spoke on principles of professional ethics and golden rules of work ethics among other ethical behaviours.

Earlier, the Assistant Director, Human Resource Management, Mr Mohammed Lawan, welcomed the participants into the NYSC family and implored them to be of good conduct as it this is one of the criteria for the confirmation of appointments in the public service while on probation.

The induction witnessed presentations of briefs from all the Assistant Directors and Heads of Branches and Units in the secretariat. (NAN)
