
Nigerian Army troops on patrol
Nigerian Army troops have eliminated 15 terrorists in Katsina State, apprehended 13 suspects in Kaduna, and seized weapons from armed herders in Benue during operations conducted between Friday and Saturday.
A senior military official from Army Headquarters shared details with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja.
In Katsina’s Kankara Local Government Area, troops launched air and ground assaults on Zango High Ground, obliterating terrorist hideouts.
“Intercepted communications confirmed that 15 terrorists were killed, with several others injured,” the source stated.
In Kaduna metropolis, troops from 1 Division Garrison, working alongside police and other agencies, arrested 13 suspects carrying illicit drugs during raids on notorious areas, including Unguwan Dosa, Unguwan Yero, Kwaru, and Majalisa.
In Sokoto State, operations in Sabon Birni and Wurno LGAs thwarted terrorist activities, leading to the rescue of a driver and his vehicle.
The source noted, “Four suspected terrorists were lynched by locals in Kaura Village, while three others were saved and handed over to the police.
Additionally, two suspected terrorist informants were apprehended in Gudu Local Government Area.”
In Benue, troops under Operation Whirl Stroke neutralized one armed herder during a clearance mission in Logo Local Government Area, recovering an AK-47 rifle, 19 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and other items.
The source added, “Troops also intervened in clashes in Kwande and Guma LGAs, calming tensions and evacuating an injured farmer to a hospital.”
The official emphasized the army’s commitment, stating, “Troops continue aggressive patrols across all theatres to restrict terrorist movements and safeguard lives and property.”
