Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani
Kaduna State Commissioner for Agriculture, Malam Murtala Mohammed Dabo, has described Governor Uba Sani as a farmer-friendly leader whose policies are placing farmers at the centre of development and driving the state’s agricultural transformation.
Dabo made the remark at the flag-off of the distribution of livestock support packages to 5,000 cooperative groups across the state.
In his welcome address, the commissioner said Governor Uba Sani has demonstrated strong commitment to transforming agriculture from subsistence farming into a viable engine for economic growth and rural prosperity.
According to him, the administration’s agricultural reforms represent a major shift aimed at creating jobs, generating wealth and sustaining livelihoods in communities across Kaduna State.
“Governor Uba Sani has shown unmatched commitment to transforming agriculture from a means of subsistence into a true engine of growth that creates jobs, generates wealth and sustains livelihoods across our communities,” he said.
Dabo described the governor as a champion of farmers, noting that the distribution of livestock intervention packages is another step in the government’s resolve to strengthen the agricultural sector.
He said the initiative is designed to support hardworking farmers and ensure that the livestock sector continues to play a key role in enhancing food security, economic diversification and rural development.
“This livestock empowerment initiative is part of a broader vision to make Kaduna State the agricultural and livestock capital of Northern Nigeria, where productivity is matched with innovation and government support reaches those who need it most,” the commissioner said.
He added that the selection of beneficiaries for the current phase of the programme was carefully carried out to ensure that only organised and genuine farmers who are capable of effectively utilising the assets were chosen.
The commissioner also commended farmer cooperatives, traditional institutions, local government authorities and development partners for their support, which he said has strengthened the implementation of the programme.
Dabo urged the beneficiaries to make prudent use of the tools and resources provided to them.
“These items should serve not only as instruments of productivity but also as symbols of trust and responsibility,” he advised.
