Super Falcons of Nigeria
By JOY ADARA, Abuja-
Director-General of the National Institute for Sports (NIS), Philip Shaibu, has congratulated the Super Falcons on their impressive 5-0 victory over Zambia, securing their place in the semi-finals of the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
Shaibu described the Super Falcons’ performance as a “five-star show” that sent a strong message to the rest of the continent.
He praised the team’s display of strength and experience, saying, “It is a warning shot to the rest of the continent, and a harsh lesson for a Zambian side that had looked promising, until they ran into Nigeria”.
The NIS DG highlighted the team’s early dominance, noting that Nigeria “meant business” from the start, with Osinachi Ohale scoring just 100 seconds into the match.
Shaibu commended the team, technical crew, and the leadership of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for their efforts.
Shaibu tasked the team to remain focused ahead of their semi-final match and called on Nigerians to put the team, technical crew, and the NFF leadership in prayers before, during, and after their final match in Morocco.
