
Liyel Imoke, a former Governor of Cross River State
PATRICK ABANG, Calabar –
Liyel Imoke, a former Governor of Cross River State on Sunday regreted and apologized to the people of Northern Senatorial District for making Governor Ben Ayade a Governor in 2015.
Imoke said this in Ogoja Local Government Area of the state during a thanksgiving Mass at St Bernard Catholic Church Igoli Ogoja, Cross River State
He noted that it is not the fault of the people of Northern Senatorial District that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) is now in opposition but rather because he miscalculated during the 2015 general election.
The former governor told the congregation that the opposition party had never won anything in Cross River State, noting that 2023 will not be different.
He said the emergence of Senator Jarigbe Agom as the first Senator of Ogoja extraction is divine, describing him as a symbol of liberation.
Also speaking, Senator Sandy Onoh of Cross River Central said “Today is the long months of manifestation of suffering, describing Jarigbe Agom as a man of character”
State Chairman of PDP, Vena Ikem said since the days of the former Senate President Joseph Wayas, he has not seen a Senator as popular as Agom Jarigbe.
According to the PDP Chairman Jarigbe’s commitment to service is unequal, adding that today is a special day for the people of the North Senatorial District.
In his remarks the Senator representing Northern Senatorial District Jarigbe Agom thanked his divine help and protection through out the cause of his political battle of liberation which he won
Agom also thanked his political associates within and outside the state and the people of the Senatorial District for standing up for him.
High point of the thanksgiving mass was the award of thank you for supporting the Church that was presented to him by his Lordship Bishop Edet Akpan Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Ogoja.
Dignitaries at the event include Senator Obina Ogba of Ebonyi Central, Senator Sandy Onoh, Senator Gershom Bassey, Eta Mbora, Liyel Imoke, members of PDP executive in the State.
