FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr. Nyesom Wike, has promised to provide critical infrastructure in Wassa District to facilitate the relocation of Apo Mechanic traders and dealers.
Wike made this commitment while inaugurating a committee to oversee the relocation process.
“It’s been promise on promise since 2011 without fulfillment, but President Tinubu has promised, and the process has begun,” Wike said.
He added that the committee would visit Wassa on June 27 to assess the site and determine the necessary infrastructure for the relocation.
The committee, chaired by Wike, includes key officials from the FCT Administration, such as the Coordinator of Abuja Metropolitan Management Council, Directors of Development Control, Land, Urban and Regional Planning, Survey, and Resettlement and Compensation.
These members will work together to ensure a smooth relocation process.
Wike advised the traders and dealers against internal conflicts, emphasizing that collective effort would yield better results.
“One of the businesses of government is to make people happy, and we will do everything possible to make you happy,” he assured.
The relocation of Apo Mechanics to Wassa District has been a long-standing issue, with several administrations promising to fulfill the commitment.
Wike’s assurance has brought hope to the traders and dealers, who are eager to move to their permanent site.
During the visit to Wassa, the committee will assess the site’s infrastructure needs, including roads, drainage, and security. This will enable the FCT Administration to provide the necessary support to facilitate the relocation.
Wike’s commitment to fulfilling President Tinubu’s promise is a significant development in the relocation process.
The Apo Mechanics community has been awaiting this development for years, and Wike’s assurance has raised their hopes for a better future.
