
Late Emir of Gusau, Ibrahim Bello

Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has confirmed the passing of Alhaji Ibrahim Bello, the Emir of Gusau, who died at the age of 71 after a prolonged illness.
The announcement was made through a statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Idris, on Friday.
According to Governor Lawal, the emir passed away in Abuja on Friday morning.
Expressing his grief, the governor described the loss as deeply personal, stating, “I received with deep sadness the news of the passing of our father, His Royal Highness, Dr Ibrahim Bello, the Emir of Gusau” (Sulaiman Idris, Spokesperson).
He extended condolences to the Zamfara State Council of Chiefs, the emir’s family, the Gusau emirate, and the people of Zamfara, noting, “His Highness’s passing is a huge loss for the people of Zamfara, as well as for the North and Nigeria as a whole” (Sulaiman Idris, Spokesperson).
Governor Lawal praised the late emir’s legacy, highlighting his decade-long reign since becoming the 15th Emir of Gusau on March 16, 2015.
“The late Emir of Gusau, Ibrahim Bello, was a supportive royal father and a capable leader who dedicated himself to making Zamfara State better,” he said (Sulaiman Idris, Spokesperson).
The governor also acknowledged Bello’s distinguished career as a civil servant, rising to the rank of Permanent Secretary in the former Sokoto and Zamfara states.
He added, “I have lost a confidant and a father whose wisdom guides me and other state leaders. May the Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings and grant him Aljannah” (Sulaiman Idris, Spokesperson).
Late Emir of Gusau to be buried by 2.30 p.m.

In a separate statement, Alhaji Abubakar Imam, Chairman of Gusau Local Government Area, announced that the funeral prayer (Salatul Janazah) for the late emir will take place at 2:30 p.m. at the Gusau Central Jumu’ah Mosque, followed by burial at the Gusau Emir’s palace Jumu’at Mosque.
Imam stated, “I wish to inform the Muslim community in the state and across the country that Almighty Allah, who has power over everything, has taken the life of His Royal Highness, the Emir of Gusau, Alhaji Ibrahim Bello” (Alhaji Abubakar Imam, Chairman).
He concluded with a prayer: “May Almighty Allah forgive him, have mercy on his soul and reunite us in Paradise. Ameen” (Alhaji Abubakar Imam, Chairman).
