Zulum warns new LGCs Chairmen against corruption, tasks them on PVCs, collection, voters mobilisation

Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum has cautioned the 27 LGCs Transition Chairmen in the state to be prudent and accountable in the management of the councils’ funds while discharging their duties.

He stated this on Thursday during the swearing in ceremony of the new 27 LGCs Transition Chairmen, who were recently confirmed by the Borno State House of Assembly (BOSHA) .

Governor Zulum, who was represented by his deputy, Hon. Umar Kadafur, stressed that government would not hesitate to hold any LGC Chairman responsible if found wanted in the discharge of his duties.

He also tasked the new LGCs Chairmen to mobilize their people at the grassroots to ensure total victory of the APC ruling party in the forthcoming general election as government has transformed the local government councils in many spheres to bring government closer to the people at the grassroots level to enable benefit from the dividends of democracy.

The governor urged the Chairmen to ensure that all eligible voters in their domain collect their PVCs to enable them cast their votes and exercise their franchise.

Zulum further reiterated the efforts of the state government in rejuvenating the local government areas while urging them to build on the transformation efforts of the LGCs which the state government has commenced towards reviving LG administration and socio economic activities respectively.

He also emphasized that provision of security will continue to be the upmost priority of his administration towards ensuing the return of permanent peace in the state as part of the post insurgency rebuilding; process.

On his part, the Borno State Commissioner for Local Government and Emirate Affairs, Hon. Sugun Mai Meleh commended Governor Zulum for his courage, resilience and quest to resuscitate Local Government Administration in the state since he assumed office.
