As the APC primary election draws nearer with alignment and realignment on who become Party Candidates, a frontline Southern Borno Senatorial aspirant, Hon Tarpaya Asarya has agreed to step down his senatorial ambition as he gets full support from stakeholders to run for the Hawul/ Askira-Uba Federal Constituency election in the forthcoming 2023 general elections.
Investigation revealed that Hon. Tarfaya Asarya was a Permanent Secretary Ministry for Local Government and Emirate Affairs, Borno State before putting up his resignation letter precisely last month to contest election.
Asarya was said to have made wider consultations with critical stakeholders in the federal constituency before running for the House of Representatives election having served as the longest Director, Local Administration and Ministerial Secretary with the Borno State Ministry for Local Government and Emirate Affairs before he became the Permanent Secretary of the ministry during his service with the state government for over three decades
Speaking exclusively in a telephone interview with journalists, Hon Asarya, said, “I am a law-abiding member. I have agreed to step down as an aspiring senator representing Borno South Senatorial District for the House of Representatives representing Askira/Una/Hawul Federal Constituency on the platform of our great party, APC my the grace of God.”
“I have now joined the race to aspire for the House of Representatives representing Askira-Uba/Hawul Federal Constituency”.
“If given the mandate as APC ruling party candidate and subsequently elected as member representing Askira/Una/Hawul Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, I would do all my possible best to transform the constituency better and deliver dividends of democracy to the people of my constituency”.
“I would influence the delivery of qualitative healthcare services and education, job creation, infrastructural development, agricultural transformation and mechanization, youths and women empowerment among others as my priority “, Asarya said
Borno South Senatorial District is presently occupied by Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume, while Askira -Uba/Hawul Federal Constituency is occupied by Hon. Dr Haruna Mshelia, both from the ruling APC, which have all indicated their interests to re-contest in 2023.
However, it was gathered from political stakeholders, supporters and members of the APC from the constituency that many aspirants have already shown their interests to challenge the senatorial and house of representatives seats of the incumbent lawmakers at the national level. To this send, some aspirants have already purchased their expression of interest and nomination forms ahead of the party primary elections.
Meanwhile, close associates of the aspirant and dependable sources told our correspondent in Maiduguri that Hon Asarya, who holds the traditional title of ‘Zanna Marghima of Borno’ and turbaned by HIs Eminence, Alh. Dr. Abubakar Inn Umar Garbai El Kanemi, the Shehu of Borno has made all arrangements with his teeming supporters to tour the federal Constituency in declaration of his intention to run for the house of representatives election this week,
Having been advised to step down for the senatorial contest and have the full support and backing of the political power stakeholders of the federal constituency to aspire for the seat of the lower chamber of the national assembly which came with full assurances of the political stakeholders that he will emerge as the APC ruling party candidate and subsequently winner of the election.
