
NYSC members
The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has deployed 2,247 fresh university graduates to Rivers State to undertake their mandatory one-year national service.
The corps members, comprising graduates from both local and foreign universities, were officially inducted during a ceremony held on Friday in Nonwa-Gbam, Tai area of Rivers.
The Sole Administrator of Rivers, Retired Vice Adm. Ibok-Ete Ibas, urged the corps members to be creative and resourceful throughout their service year.
“We are pleased to welcome the new corps members, in whom we have full confidence to contribute meaningfully to the development of our dear state,” Ibas said.
He assured the corps members that the state government remains committed to prioritizing their welfare and security.
NYSC Coordinator in Rivers, Mr. Moses Oleghe, encouraged the corps members to view their deployment as a valuable opportunity to contribute to nation-building.
The corps members, comprising 903 males and 1,344 females, will be redeployed to various assignments across the state as part of their mandatory service.
Oleghe expressed confidence that the good people of Rivers State will continue to support the corps members, advancing the NYSC Scheme to an enviable position in the national rankings.
