
Newly elected officials of the NUJ Benue State Council

The Benue State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) which was enveloped in crisis for the past three years has gotten a new leadership.
The new state officials of the union emerged on Saturday during the triennial delegate conference 2024 at the NUJ house, Makurdi.
Addressing delegates at the conference the NUJ President Chief Chris Isikizo appreciated Benue journalists for their desire to bury their hatchet and come together urged them to remain united and work together as a family.
Represented by the Vice President zone D, Chris Atsaka, the NUJ President appreciated the Benue State Governor for his support to the union and urged the Benue State Council of the union to support the new leadership to succeed.
The outgoing Caretaker / Credentials committee Chairman Vincent Nyinongo in his remarks, informed the delegates of the support the committee had enjoyed from the Benue journalists and appealed to them to extend the same support to the new leadership.
Other stakeholders including the two time former Chairman of the State Council and former Minority Leader of the Benue State House of Assembly Bem Mngutyo and the Majority Whip Benue State House of Assembly, Peter Ipusu whom before his election as a member of the state assembly was a journalist, encouraged all Benue journalists to remain united for purposeful development.
Accepting the mandate on behalf of other officials, the new state Chairman of the State Council, Bemdoo Ugber appreciated all the NUJ members in the state for finding them worthy to serve them and assured that they would not disappoint the council.
The NUJ Chairman who called on all members not to hesitate to support them informed that God has time for everything as according to him it was God’s time for him and other officials to lead the council.
Ugber acknowledged the firm support of the Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Communication Strategy, Solomon Iorpev and Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Tersoo Kula as well as other stakeholders for their immeasurable contributions for the union.
