Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) has recorded 4,445,505 online pre-registrations and 509,929 physical registrations as of September 14, 2025, four weeks after the exercise began on August 18.
In a statement released on Monday in Abuja, Sam Olumekun, INEC’s National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, provided a breakdown of the figures.
“As of Sunday, September 14, a total of 4,445,505 Nigerians have pre-registered online,” Olumekun said, noting that 48.17% (2,141,294) of online registrants are male, while 51.83% (2,304,211) are female. He added, “The majority, 65.79% (2,924,643), are aged 18 to 34, and 25.02% (1,112,344) are students.”
For completed registrations, combining online and in-person efforts as of September 12, Olumekun reported, “The combined figure is 509,929, with 45.06% (229,758) male and 54.94% (280,171) female.” He highlighted that 74.15% (378,132) of these registrants are young people aged 18 to 34, with 38.54% (196,529) being students.
Olumekun further noted that detailed data on registrations by state, gender, age, occupation, and disability status has been made available on INEC’s website and official platforms.
He also announced the closure of online pre-registration in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on September 15, stating, “In the next two weeks, physical registration will take place at designated venues.”
From September 29 to October 8, the registration process will extend to all 62 wards in the FCT, with venue addresses already published on INEC’s platforms.
This robust participation underscores Nigeria’s growing engagement in the electoral process, particularly among young voters
