Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has declared that transparency and fairness will be the guiding principles in the ongoing recruitment of 10,000 workers into the state civil service, warning against any form of secret hiring or political interference.
The governor made the position clear as the state prepares to commence the first phase of the large-scale employment exercise, stressing that the process must be open, credible, and collectively owned by all stakeholders.
Speaking during a closed-door meeting with key political and administrative leaders in the state, Governor Mohammed said the engagement was convened deliberately to “eschew favoritism and political interference” and ensure that qualified citizens are given equal opportunity.
He disclosed that the Head of Service has already identified 214 vacancies across ministries, departments, and agencies, with 5,669 positions ready to be filled in the initial phase of the exercise.
According to the governor, only a transparent recruitment process can guarantee justice for young graduates and ordinary citizens who do not have political connections.
“This is about fairness and restoring confidence in government,” he said, assuring that the remaining employment slots would be completed in 2026.
Earlier, the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Aminu Hammayo, noted that the recruitment framework reflects the governor’s commitment to inclusive governance.
He added that “representatives from all the state’s 20 local government areas have been invited to jointly develop the guidelines for the exercise.”
Meanwhile, the online recruitment portal earlier launched by the State ICT Bureau has continued to attract wide attention, a development seen as a sign of strong public interest and confidence in what the government hopes will become its most transparent employment process yet.
