
Former Kano Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso and his son, Mustapha Rabiu Kwankwaso
Mustapha Rabiu Kwankwaso, son of former Kano State Governor and national leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has resigned his appointment as Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development in Kano State.
His resignation also ends his membership of the Kano State Executive Council under the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, at a time of heightened political tension in the state.
In a statement released on Monday, Mustapha Rabiu Kwankwaso formally announced his decision to step aside from the role.
“It is with a heavy heart that I announce my resignation as Honorable Commissioner, Ministry of Youth and Sports Development and Member of the Kano State Executive Council.”

He expressed appreciation to Governor Yusuf for the opportunity to serve, describing his time in office as both instructive and fulfilling.
“I want to express my deepest gratitude to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for the opportunity to serve the great people of Kano State. I have cherished the experiences and lessons gained while serving, and I appreciate the trust placed in me.”
Reflecting on the future of youth empowerment and sports development in the state, Kwankwaso voiced optimism that ongoing initiatives would continue to receive attention.
“As I resign, I pray that the youth of Kano State will continue to receive the attention and support they deserve. I hope for the best for our sports development programs and initiatives, and I am confident that they will flourish in the years to come.”
He concluded the statement with prayers for Kano State and goodwill towards the government and its people.
“May Allah (SWT) continue to shower His blessings on our beloved Kano State. I wish the government and people of Kano State all the best.”
The resignation comes amid evolving political dynamics in Kano, drawing significant public and political attention to developments within the state government.
