
Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced plans to conduct bye-elections in the Ahoada East II and Khana II State Constituencies of Rivers State.
The electoral body made the disclosure in an official notice shared on its verified X (formerly Twitter) handle, @inecnigeria, informing the public of the date, time and conditions for participation in the polls.
According to INEC, the bye-elections are scheduled as follows:
Date: Saturday, 21st February 2026.
Time: 8:30am
Venue: Polling Units in the affected constituencies
INEC stressed that only eligible voters whose names appear on the voters’ register and who possess valid Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) will be permitted to take part in the exercise.
“Inec said only the voters register and have valid PVC shall be allowed to vote.”
The commission further clarified that voters must cast their ballots strictly at the polling units where they are registered.
“Voters shall only vote At polling units where there are registered.”
INEC also confirmed that the Biomodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) will be deployed for voter verification during the exercise.
“The biomodal voters accreditation system (BVas) shall be used for the accreditation of voters.”
Reinforcing its long-standing position on electoral compliance, the commission warned that participation without a PVC will not be allowed.
