All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State has endorsed President Bola Tinubu for a second term in the 2027 presidential election.
This is just as the party from ward, local government and state, also passed a vote of confidence on Governor Abdullahi Sule and adopted Senator Ahmed Wadada, as the party’s preferred governorship aspirant for 2027.
The state chairman of the party, Dr. Aliyu Bello, made these known on Monday during a world press conference held in Lafia.
The state APC Chairman equally addressed what he described as misleading and inflammatory publications circulating in some quarters about the conduct of the party ahead of the 2027 governorship primary.
On President Tinubu, Dr. Bello said the party was endorsing him for a second term in recognition of what he called bold and far-reaching reforms his administration has pursued since taking office, including efforts to stabilise the economy, develop infrastructure and improve national security.
The chairman equally commended the national chairman of the party, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, for his leadership and commitment to strengthening internal party democracy across all levels of the organisation.
Dr. Bello said the party was passing a vote of confidence on Gov Sule’s leadership, citing his record in infrastructure development, economic expansion and investment drive in Nasarawa State. He said the Governor’s stewardship had not only strengthened the party but also inspired confidence among the people of the state.
The party also acknowledged and congratulated the governor on his endorsement of Senator Wadada as his preferred governorship aspirant, describing the decision as a product of wide consultations and consistent with established political traditions in the state.
However, he was clear that the forthcoming primary election remains open to all aspirants. He said the party would provide a level playing field for every aspirant to test their popularity in a free, fair and credible contest, and that no aspirant would be disadvantaged.
As part of the event, the officials of the APC from across the 147 electoral wards, 13 local government areas and the state executive committee, staged a procession from City Hall Lafia to the Government House, where they pledged their total commitment and support to Governor Sule and Senator Wadada.
