Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe, a fiscal expert, has been nominated to replace Adebayo Adelabu, the immediate former Minister of Power, who resigned recently to pursue his 2027 governorship bid in Oyo state.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has made the nomination on Thursday pending Senate confirmation.
Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe is a prominent Nigerian business strategist, consultant, and public servant who was appointed in September 2024 as the Director-General and Global Liaison for the Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership.
In this role, he reported directly to President Bola Tinubu, managing bilateral agreements and initiatives resulting from the partnership.
As DG of the Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership, Tegbe led efforts to secure investments in rail networks, power distribution, and industrial parks, as well as coordinating healthcare, medical research, and technology transfers.
Tegbe is a 1988 first-class graduate in Civil Engineering from Obafemi Awolowo University.
He is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (FCA) and the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria.
He was a Senior Partner and Head of Technology Advisory Services at KPMG Professional Services in Nigeria, where he worked for over 30 years.
He has vast experience in institutional transformation, public sector reforms, and strategy formulation
