National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has destroyed 329,865 kilograms of assorted illicit drugs with an estimated street value of N301 billion in Lagos, reinforcing Nigeria’s commitment to combating drug trafficking and organised crime.
The destruction exercise, carried out on the orders of the court at Navy Town, Ojo, involved narcotics seized across Lagos between April 2025 and May 2026, alongside abandoned consignments linked to cases that had been concluded.
According to the agency, the operation was conducted in line with legal procedures and forms part of ongoing efforts to ensure that confiscated illicit substances do not find their way back into circulation.
The destroyed drugs included cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, cannabis, ephedrine, tramadol, codeine syrup, and other prohibited opioids intercepted during various anti-narcotics operations.
The NDLEA said the exercise was carried out in collaboration with the Lagos State Government, the Nigeria Customs Service, the Nigerian Navy, and the judiciary, highlighting the importance of inter-agency cooperation in the country’s fight against drug-related crimes.
The agency described the destruction of the seized narcotics as a strong demonstration of Nigeria’s resolve to dismantle drug trafficking networks, disrupt criminal enterprises, and deny them the enormous financial gains generated from the illegal drug trade.
NDLEA reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying enforcement operations, strengthening partnerships with relevant stakeholders, and ensuring that those involved in the production, trafficking, and distribution of illicit drugs are brought to justice.
