Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani
Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has commended Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, for prioritising the welfare of resident doctors and improving healthcare delivery across the state.
The association said the governor had demonstrated strong commitment to improving the working conditions of resident doctors through better remuneration, infrastructure development, manpower recruitment and professional capacity building.
NARD made the commendation in a communiqué issued at the end of its July National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held from July 26 to 31, 2026, at Gombe International Hotel, Gombe State.
The association also commended the governors of Osun, Kaduna, Oyo, Rivers and Plateau states for prioritising the welfare of resident doctors through improvements in remuneration, infrastructure, manpower development and working conditions.
In Kaduna State, the association noted that the Uba Sani administration had taken significant steps to strengthen the healthcare system, including the renovation, equipping and upgrading of all 255 Primary Healthcare Centres to Level-2 status.
The government has also expanded access to maternal, newborn, child and adolescent healthcare services, while strengthening routine immunisation and disease surveillance programmes across the state.
At the secondary healthcare level, the administration is undertaking the revitalisation of General Hospitals through infrastructure renewal, provision of modern medical equipment and improvement of diagnostic services.
The governor has equally prioritised the recruitment of healthcare professionals across various cadres, strengthened workforce planning, supported continuous professional development and invested in capacity-building programmes for health workers.
The administration has also sustained the implementation of the Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS) for medical doctors and the Consolidated Health Salary Structure (CONHESS) for eligible healthcare professionals.
Similarly, the government has maintained regular funding of the Medical Residency Training Fund, reaffirming its commitment to training and developing the next generation of specialist physicians whose expertise will contribute to strengthening healthcare delivery in Kaduna State.
