Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has called on eligible residents of Sokoto State to take advantage of the final phase of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise scheduled to begin on May 11 and end on July 10, 2026.
INEC described the exercise as a crucial opportunity for citizens who are yet to register to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of future elections.
The commission explained that the registration process would include both online pre-registration and physical registration at designated centres across the state.
In a statement issued by the Public Affairs Officer of INEC in Sokoto State, Hassan Sarki Gendane, on behalf of the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Umar Yusuf Garba, residents were urged to participate actively in the exercise to avoid being disenfranchised during upcoming elections.
The REC stressed the importance of voter participation in strengthening democracy, urging eligible residents not to miss the final registration window.
“Your participation is critical to the growth of our democracy. We urge everyone in Sokoto State to register and collect their PVCs as this is the final chance before the exercise concludes. The deadline for registration is fast approaching, so act now,” he said.
Garba further disclosed that the CVR exercise would also cater for voters seeking replacement of lost PVCs, transfer of registration, or update of personal information.
According to him, such services can now be accessed online without necessarily visiting any INEC office.
“The CVR process includes both online and physical registration, with specific timelines for each activity. Additionally, individuals who have lost their PVCs, need to transfer their registration, or wish to update their information can now handle these processes without visiting the INEC office. These services can be accessed online at cvr.inecnigeria.org, providing a convenient and efficient option for all registered voters.
“The Commission urges everyone to abide by the timelines and ensure that all necessary steps are completed within the provided period,” the statement added.
