New Emir of Kagarko, HRM Suleiman Sa’ad Abubakar
Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani has approved the appointment of Alhaji Suleiman Sa’ad Abubakar as the new Emir of Kagarko, with immediate effect.
The appointment was announced in a statement issued on Monday by the Kaduna State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Sadiq Mamman Lagos.
The commissioner said the new emir, who previously held the traditional title of San Turakin Kagarko, emerged following what he described as a rigorous selection process conducted by the kingmakers of the Kagarko Emirate Council.
According to the statement, several contestants were screened before Suleiman Sa’ad Abubakar was eventually selected for the throne.
The appointment followed the death of the late Second Class Emir of Kagarko, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, who died on January 8, 2026, after six years on the throne.
Governor Sani congratulated the new emir on his ascension and urged him to promote peace, unity and harmony across the emirate.
The commissioner added that arrangements for the formal presentation of the staff of office and installation ceremony would be announced in due course.
