Former Minister of Transport, Mu'azu Sambo
Former Minister of Transport, Mu’azu Sambo has appealed to President Bola Tinubu and the National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC) to save internal democracy in the state chapter of the party.
Sambo, who spoke on Saturday through his senior aide on media, Dr Sam Idiagbonya, anipr, also called for a review of the state APC governorship primary election.
It would be recalled that the APC primary election committee had on Saturday announced the incumbent Governor, Agbu Kefas as winner of the party’s gubernatorial primary election, having polled 166,357 votes and Sambo as first runner up with 4110 votes.
Dr. Idiagbonya, who was not pleased with the result in a statement alleged that the election falls short of the democratic ideals the APC claims to uphold.
According to him, “politics may be about power, but even power must respect process.
“Today, many loyal APC members in Taraba feel betrayed, humiliated, and politically orphaned.
“What we perceived during the governorship primary election was an overwhelming political force overpowering internal democracy.
“Allegations of irregularities, exclusion, and lack of transparency, if ignored, risk damaging the integrity and democratic image of the party.
“This is why we are calling on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, the national leadership of the APC, and the party chairman to urgently review the conduct of the Taraba State gubernatorial primaries.
“The APC must rise to its purpose, defend its honour and also remain a model of democratic process.”
