
Governorship primary election of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Rivers State commenced on Friday across the 319 wards of the state, with party members participating through the Option A4 voting method.
Officials of the party’s National Election Committee were deployed to monitor and supervise the exercise as voting got underway in different parts of the state.
Ahead of the primary, governorship aspirants held a meeting where two of the seven contenders withdrew from the race and declared support for Gabriel Pidomson, a former member of the Rivers State House of Assembly and ex-Secretary to the Rivers State Government.
One of the aspirants who stepped down is Henry Ugboma.
Other candidates still in the contest are Sokonte Davies, Farah Dagogo, Leloonu Nwibubasa, and Allen Hart.
Party officials expressed confidence that the exercise would be conducted peacefully and transparently across the state.
