Dangote Industries Limited (DIL) has unveiled a new whistleblower initiative aimed at curbing unauthorized use of its branded trucks, offering a cash reward of N500,000 to anyone who provides credible information leading to the arrest of offenders.
The announcement, made on Sunday, underscores the company’s commitment to safeguarding its logistics operations across Nigeria and combating illegal haulage activities that threaten the integrity of its supply chain.
In an official statement, Dangote Industries urged the public to report any suspected misuse of its trucks, emphasizing that vehicles owned by its subsidiaries are authorized solely to transport specific approved products. For instance, Dangote Cement trucks are permitted to carry only cement, limestone, high-grade gypsum, coal, and clinker. Similarly, trucks under Dangote Sugar Refinery are restricted to sugar products.
The company further clarified that NASCON Allied Industries’ vehicles are designated for Dangote Salt and DanQ Seasoning products, while Dangote Packaging trucks transport only bags and packaging materials. Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals’ trucks are authorized exclusively for polypropylene products, and Dangote Fertiliser Limited’s vehicles are limited to urea fertilizer.
Dangote Industries warned that any trucks found transporting unauthorized goods would be deemed involved in illegal haulage, with drivers and cargo owners subject to arrest, confiscation of goods, and prosecution.
The whistleblower program invites individuals with verifiable information to assist investigations by providing details such as truck type, registration number, cab number, location, description of goods, vehicle color, and photographs where possible. Dedicated hotlines have been established to facilitate reporting.
The company also confirmed that law enforcement agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force, have been empowered to arrest drivers engaged in unauthorized commercial haulage using Dangote trucks.
This initiative forms part of Dangote Industries’ zero-tolerance policy on logistics-related fraud. The company stressed that public cooperation is vital to ensuring transparency, accountability, and compliance within its transportation network.
By launching this program, Dangote aims to protect its assets, promote lawful business practices, and ensure that violators face appropriate legal consequences.
