The rescued victims
Department of State Services (DSS) has secured the release of the remaining four students of the Federal Polytechnic, Kaura Namoda, who were kidnapped by bandits in Zamfara State, following a coordinated intelligence-led operation.
According to the agency, the rescue mission was carried out without the payment of any ransom.
The operation also led to the arrest of a suspected kidnapper, while several other members of the criminal gang were neutralised.
The students were among six undergraduates abducted from their off-campus residence in Kaura Namoda on June 3, 2026. Two of the victims had regained their freedom earlier, while security operatives continued efforts that eventually resulted in the safe rescue of the remaining four.
The DSS described the operation as part of its ongoing campaign against kidnapping and other violent crimes across the country, reaffirming its commitment to safeguarding lives and strengthening national security.
The latest rescue comes shortly after the agency secured the freedom of a professor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, in another intelligence-driven operation, underscoring its intensified efforts to dismantle kidnapping networks and improve public safety.
