
The arrested suspects and weapons recovered
Oyo State Police Command has recorded another breakthrough in its sustained efforts to rid the state of violent crimes with the arrest of three suspected armed robbers and the recovery of a firearm and ammunition.
The police spokesman, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday in Ibadan.
DSP Olayinka said the operatives of the command’s monitoring unit, acting on credible intelligence regarding the activities of suspected armed robbers operating from a hideout within the Sabo-Mokola area of Ibadan, conducted a coordinated raid on the identified apartment in the early hours of the day.
He said during the operation, three suspects identified as Tomiwa Ayomide (28 years), Haruna Kabiru (32 years), and Haruna Hassan alias “Malo” (32 years) were arrested.
According to him, a search conducted at the scene led to the recovery of one single-barrel locally made cut-to-size gun and seven cartridges.
The suspects are currently in police custody while investigations continue to determine their involvement in other criminal activities and to apprehend possible accomplices.
