Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has expressed deep concern over the escalating wave of terrorist attacks across parts of the country, warning that Nigeria risks sliding into anarchy if urgent and decisive measures are not taken.
In a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Prof. T. A. Muhammad-Baba, the Forum said it was saddened by recent attacks in Borno State and Plateau State, as well as earlier incidents recorded in Katsina State, Kwara State, Niger State and Zamfara State.
The Forum cited the recent bomb explosion in Maiduguri, which left several people dead and many others injured, noting that the incident followed attacks on military formations that resulted in casualties among security personnel and destruction of critical facilities.
ACF also decried violent attacks in Plateau communities, including the killing of military personnel, describing the trend as part of a disturbing pattern of coordinated assaults by extremist groups.
According to the Forum, the persistent bloodshed has led to massive loss of lives and property, disrupted livelihoods and worsened social cohesion in affected communities.
It said the nature and frequency of the attacks point to a deliberate and coordinated strategy by insurgents and criminal elements, including Boko Haram and other extremist groups, to destabilise communities and undermine national security.
The Forum strongly condemned the attacks, extending condolences to victims, affected communities, the Nigerian government and the armed forces, while lamenting what it described as the ineffective response to the security crisis.
ACF called for a total overhaul of Nigeria’s security architecture, urging authorities to demonstrate stronger political will and adopt more decisive, forceful measures to confront terrorism, warning that failure to act urgently could plunge the country into widespread chaos.
