Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has called on residents and indigenes to actively engage in the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise in preparation for the August 8, 2026, governorship election.
In a statement released on Monday in Osogbo by his spokesperson, Malam Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke emphasized the importance of widespread participation in the CVR, which began nationwide on the same day, as announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Highlighting the significance of the upcoming election, Adeleke described voter registration as a vital civic duty.
“The 2026 election is crucial for continuing the delivery of effective governance in Osun,” he stated.
“I urge everyone who has lost or misplaced their voter’s card to replace it and ensure they are registered.”
The governor encouraged Osun residents living outside the state to transfer their voter cards to Osun for maximum participation.
“Our voter card is our tool to demonstrate that good governance is achievable, as we’ve shown in Osun over the past two and a half years,” he said.
Adeleke also stressed the importance of protecting the electoral process, adding, “We must be prepared to safeguard our votes and prevent any attempts to undermine the people’s will.”
Adeleke called on state officials and community leaders across local governments to mobilize eligible voters for the CVR.
He expressed confidence in INEC’s ability to conduct a smooth and transparent registration process in the public’s interest.
