Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has expressed his support for the suspended Senator, Bauchi Central District, Abdul Ningi, over his now controversial comment on the 2024 budget.

Recall that Ningi, representing Bauchi Central, in a recent interview with BBC Hausa, had alleged that the National Assembly approved a budget of N25 trillion for 2024, contrary to the N28.7 trillion implemented by the Federal Government.

The Senate, after a rowdy session on Tuesday during plenary, suspended him for three months. He also resigned as the Chairman of the Northern Senators’ Forum.

But the Governor, while speaking at the commencement of the State Executive Council Meeting held at Government House on Wednesday, said he was sad at Ningi’s suspension.

He said: “Yesterday, I was very sad – the Senate suspended one of our best from Bauchi for saying the truth, for standing to raise the beacon of truth, Senator Abdul Ningi.

“Equally, I don’t know what we will do but we will discuss privately to see what we can do to support him, because I support him for for whatever he is doing. That is the face of the opposition, especially if what he is saying is the truth.

“We will make investigation to find out. I am not too quick to go to the media but certainly, he has shown courage, he has shown that he’s from Bauchi and we have to be with him,” he said.
