APC to honour its performing governors, lawmakers

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has it plans to honour some of its preforming governors and lawmakers elected on its platform in a Productivity Award on Nov. 25 in Abuja.

 

The Chairman APC NewsOnline, Dr Tom Ohikere, said this when he addressed newsmen on Thursday in Abuja.

 

He said that President Bola Tinubu and former Muhammadu Buhari would also be honoured at the event, for their contribution to good governance and the sustenance of democratic rule in the country.

 

Ohikere, a former Kogi Commissioner for Information in Kogi, said that former Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo and his successor, Sen. Kashim Shettima would also be honoured at the event.

 

He said all performing APC governors, National and State Houses of Assembly members and all the party’s national chairmen from 2015 to date would be honoured at the event.

“The productivity and performance award is to encourage and boost the level of performance by recognising and appreciating party members.

“And leaders who have distinguished themselves as public officials since the inception of APC’s administration in the country to stimulate replication by other members.

“Essentially the program is to award chosen party leaders for high performance, higher productivity, achievements.

“Prudent management of resources, milestones and foster the spirit of healthy competition among APC leaders and stakeholders,” he said.

Ohikere added that the event would underscore the vital role of productivity in the global community.

He said that productivity was a fundamental determinant for growth, social progress, improved standard of living, economic growth and human development.

“The ultimate aim is to further deepen and strengthen delivery of democratic dividends at all levels by the APC-led administration for the consolidation and sustenance of democracy in Nigeria,” he said.

He said the peer review report of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF)from 2015 till date, would be used to select governors with observable milestones, legacy projects and value for money.

He said that the APC Parliamentary Award would be based on the number of constituency projects, motions and bills sponsored by legislators in both National and State Houses of Assembly.(NAN)
