Mr Dennis Idahosa (APC -Edo), says his Appeal Court victory has again affirmed that the people of Ovia Federal constituency would no longer allow anyone, under any guise, supersede over their affairs without their mandate.

Idahosa said this in his reaction to Saturday’s Appeal court judgement that affirmed his election as a member of the House of Representatives.

The lawmaker who spoke through his media aide, Mr Friday Aghedo, in a statement in Abuja, on Sunday noted that he was never disturbed with the petitions because he knew that the people had their mandate freely given to him.

Making a reference to the book of Lamentation 3:36-37, Idahosa noted that the evil plans hatched by the enemies of Ovia came to nullity because it was against the wishes of the people.

Idahosa, who is Chairman, House Committee on Health Care Services, said that God had taken it upon himself to always foil any attempt meant to subvert the will of the people, noting that in all things, man cannot be greater than God.

“They may have tried but the power of the people prevailed over them at the end of it all.

“We know how desperate they were during the elections, and we also know how far they went to stop the liberation victory we first recorded in 2019.

“It is not all about them again, it is now about us, every resident, irrespective of tribe, religion and ethnicity.

“And we will do all that is necessary and within the ambit of the law to stop them from arrogating power to themselves again.

“The people have seen the difference in the federal constituency in the past four years and I, Idahosa, have sworn to uphold this mandate that will enable me to continually serve the people.”

He added that the victory was not his alone to be celebrated.

According to him, ultimately, the biggest beneficiary on this victory remained us, we the people of Ovia federal constituency,” he said.

It would be recalled that the Court of Appeal sitting in Lagos had on Saturday upheld the Tribunal judgement that affirmed the victory of Idahosa in the February 28 National Assembly Elections.

The candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ms Omosede Igbinedion and that of the Labour Party, Mrs Epelle Osayuki had petitioned the outcome of the poll at the tribunal. (NAN)
