Armed to the teeth police personnel have taken over the Benue State secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Makurdi.

The Benue State chapter of the APC had scheduled a meeting at the secretariat for Friday, 1st March by 10 am.

The State Publicity Secretary of the party, Daniel Morgan Ihomon in a statement had quoted the State Chairman, Comrade Austin Agada as inviting people for a post inaugural meeting with the Executive Director, Housing, Finance and Accounts Dr. Mathias Terwase Byuan.

While the leadership of the party was inviting those concerned for the meeting, a circular came from Government House Makurdi signed by Paul Biam, Chief of Staff to the Governor on behalf, banning all political gatherings and meetings for security reasons.

On the day of the meeting, serious looking police personnel as well as self appointed young men were at the APC secretariat to stop everyone from gaining entrance to the secretariat.

NATIONAL ACCORD correspondent in Makurdi, who went to cover the meeting among other journalists could not get to the secretariat even as the party leadership, who had called for the meeting were no longer in sight.

But when NATIONAL ACCORD sought to know from the Publicity Secretary of the party, Ihomon assured that the meeting would be held.
