
Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas

Taraba State Governor, Kefas Agbu has appealed to students of Taraba State University (TSU), Jalingo to shelve their planned protest.
In a statement released by the Special Adviser on Media and Digital Communication to the governor, Emmanuel Bello, stressed that sources had revealed that the students were mobilizing for a protest following the industrial action of the Academic Staff Union of University (ASUU) who down tools last week.
The source reviewed that, the students were in the middle of their examinations when ASUU went on strike. The action was said to have caused them great distress, leaving them with no option but to plan for a strike.
Governor Agbu in his reaction appealed to the student to resist any action that could further cause disruption in the educational system.
He said the government is doing everything in its power to meet the demands of the striking lecturers. He stressed that talks have resumed and that a strong commitment to address all lingering issues has been activated.
He said his administration is relentlessly committed to students’ welfare, which was what informed the free education policy. He said the biggest part of the 2025 budget is for the education sector.
Governor Agbu assured the students of his total support for teachers’ welfare and the provision of a conducive atmosphere for learning.
