Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River
PATRICK ABANG, Calabar –
Chairman of the Cross River State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alphonsus Ogar has hinted that the Ayade-led administration inherited a whopping sum of 400 billion naira debt from his predecessors.
Mr. Oga disclosed this during an interactive session with journalists in Calabar alongside his executives.
According to him, despite the huge debt, the governor has gone ahead to establish several projects particularly industries across the state.
“The Ayade led administration inherited a 400 billion naira debt. The previous administrations plunged us into the debts but despite this, the governor is developing a number of major projects.
“These include the rice mill, cocoa processing factory, cassava syrup plant, garment factory and many others”.
“Major projects like the Odukpani dualization is on course, though a federal road and this is one of the projects we need to give applauds to the present administration”.
“The people of Cross River State are seeing this and they are not blind” he said.
The Cross River APC Chairman, however, said all appointees who are not registered members of the APC are given up to the end of year to perfect their membership with the party or quit.
He stressed that Article 9:5 of the constitution of the party abhors members of the APC from taking up appointment in other parties and this will be enforced.
Mr. Oga said he is bringing discipline into the party and undisciplined members will be shown the way out of the party.
On zoning, he said it is not a problem in the APC and the party will sit down as a family and decide where the governorship should go to.
He insisted that he believes in zoning and all parties acceded to it in 2014/15 that made the governorship seat go to the northern part of the state.
He explained that at the appropriate time, the party executive will do that which is right, equitable and fair.
